Working with Ray
Last updated · View as markdown
This page covers how Ray is set up for your organisation and how to work with Ray day to day.
Setup
AMMP sets Ray up together with you:
- Choose where Ray works: Microsoft Teams, Slack, AMMP OS, or a combination. Ray is added to your Teams or Slack workspace.
- Decide what Ray can see. Ray has its own AMMP account, with permissions like any other user. Your AMMP admin chooses which organisations, asset groups or assets Ray can access. See Ray: data, permissions and security.
- Add your context. Share what Ray needs to judge performance well, such as target yields or financial models, contract and SLA terms, and tariffs. The more context Ray has, the sharper its answers.
- Invite Ray to channels. Add Ray to the channels where your team discusses operations, such as a portfolio-ops channel or a channel per client.
Asking Ray
Mention Ray in a channel or chat, for example @Ray, followed by your question. Ray shows that it's working, then replies in the thread. Keep follow-up questions in the same thread, so Ray has the whole conversation in view.
Longer investigations can take a few minutes. Ray may post a short answer first and then the supporting detail.
Getting good answers
- Be specific about scope and period. "September performance for the sites in the Kenya group vs. target yield" works better than "How are my sites doing?"
- Say what you need it for. "…for the monthly investor update" tells Ray to draft rather than just analyse.
- Ask for the evidence. Ray cites its sources by default; ask "show me the readings behind that" to see more.
- Correct Ray when it's wrong. Tell Ray what was wrong and why. Ray learns from feedback and keeps it for next time.
- Ask Ray to check, not change. Ray is read-only; it prepares work orders, tickets and drafts for your team to act on.
What Ray can produce
- Answers with cited evidence in the conversation
- Tables, exports and charts
- Draft reports, stakeholder updates and work orders
- Ranked lists of issues by commercial impact
When Ray can't answer
If data is missing, a device isn't connected, or Ray doesn't have access to a site, Ray says so and explains what's missing. Ray also flags when a problem needs AMMP's help, for example a data or integration issue, so it can be passed on to support@ammp.io.
Changing Ray's access or setup
Ask your AMMP admin to change Ray's permissions, or email support@ammp.io to add channels, connect data sources or change how Ray works for your team.
