Investor reporting tools for C&I solar portfolios compared
Criteria for choosing an investor reporting tool for a commercial and industrial solar portfolio, and a neutral look at the main platforms.

Investors want the same thing every quarter: what the portfolio produced, how it performed against plan, what went wrong and what it earned. Which tool you use decides whether that report takes an afternoon or a week. This guide gives the criteria that matter for commercial and industrial (C&I) portfolios, then a neutral look at the main platforms.
The criteria
1. Data sources
Can the tool pull meter, inverter, battery and weather data from every brand you run? A reporting tool is only as complete as the data it can reach.
2. Consistent KPIs
Are performance ratio, availability and yield calculated the same way for every site and brand? Investors compare sites with each other, so they need to be measured the same way.
3. Billing and savings support
Can the same data produce PPA invoices and savings reports, so the investor report and the customer invoice never disagree?
4. Formats and branding
Does it produce Word, PowerPoint or PDF, with your branding where your investors expect it?
5. Scheduling
Can reports go out automatically on a calendar, without someone building them by hand each time?
6. Data access
Is there an API, or an MCP server for AI assistants, so finance teams can pull the data into their own models?
The platforms
Short, neutral descriptions based on our published comparisons:
- Meteocontrol: an established, hardware-linked monitoring solution with a long track record in solar. Fits solar portfolios that already run on Meteocontrol hardware.
- Power Factors: renewable asset performance management software. Teams already using it can keep it and add AMMP AI (Ray) on top.
- AlsoEnergy PowerTrack: monitoring and reporting for solar and storage portfolios with a widely deployed, standardised feature set. Fits portfolios whose requirements match a standard template.
- QOS Energy: an asset performance management platform focused mainly on utility-scale wind and solar. Fits utility-scale operators.
- Bazefield: a SCADA and operations management platform with particular strength in utility-scale projects that need advanced control.
- Univers (EnOS): one of the world's largest energy IoT platforms, serving major utilities, enterprises and governments.
- Manufacturer portals: each inverter brand's own portal. Fits single-brand portfolios that only need that brand's data.
- AMMP: a vendor-agnostic platform for solar, battery, hybrid, wind and genset portfolios. AMMP OS Platform covers monitoring, reporting and commercials. AMMP AI (Ray) drafts reports and can also run on top of an existing monitoring stack. Fits mixed-brand commercial and industrial portfolios that want one source of truth for reporting and contract tracking.
How to choose
Start with your fleet. For a single brand, the manufacturer's portal may be enough. For utility-scale plants that need control, look at the SCADA-focused platforms. For a mixed-brand commercial and industrial portfolio where reporting, billing and contract tracking matter as much as monitoring, put the six criteria above to each vendor and ask to see a real report built from your own data.
